The development and testing of an approach to link the location of R&D investments of an industrial company with the geographic distribution of its patent portfolio. The aim is to use this approach for the foreseen regular reporting on the globalization of R&D within the ERAWATCH Base Load Service.

Outcomes

The project collected data on R&D and patenting activities of 18 company groups (i.e. including all their affiliates), and produced corresponding ‘maps’ of R&D investments and patent portfolios based on information on the location of these activities.
