Education

George Strogylopoulos holds a MSc in Technology and Innovation Management, SPRU, University of Sussex, obtained in 1991 and a degree in Chemical Engineering (awarded in 1987).

Background

From 1994 to 1999, George Strogylopoulos worked as external international innovation policy expert for the 'Innovation Programme' of the Enterprise Directorate General of the European Commission in Luxembourg. He was a member of the working groups for the preparation of the Green Paper on Innovation in Europe and the First Action Plan on Innovation in Europe and the design, application and management of the RITTS and RIS schemes.
He has also worked in the areas of EU innovation policy mapping, regional innovation development, innovation financing, start-ups support and innovation measurement. He was in charge for the European Innovation Policy Network (4 years) and the Trend Chart on Innovation in Europe (2 years) at European level.

Today he acts as Chairman of the Board of LOGOTECH SA and of Logotech Bulgaria and as an advisor to regional authorities, national governments, the European Commission and the European Parliament. He has designed several public measures for innovation policy in Greece (e.g. innovation poles, innovation zones, science and society, regulatory environment and IPR), Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Russia. He has given more than 350 speeches on innovation policy issues in almost all Member States or other areas like Russia and Turkey.

George is the director of the Europe INNOVA communications project. He has been the organizer of the last three European Commission's 'Forums for Innovative Enterprises' (Lyon, Stockholm and Stuttgart) and the two Europe Innova Forums in Valencia (2006) and Lyon (2008). He was a member of the working Group for the preparation innovation policy chapter of the European Competitiveness Report in 2005 and he is member of the management board of the ERAWATCH Network which monitors R&D policy in the EU. He was also a main advisor to the Greek Government for the running of the Greek EUREKA Presidency (2000) and a member of the managing board of the Greek Foresight project.

George is also a member of the managing board of FG Europe (Fujitsu) in Greece and of Logoventures, a company established in December 2008. LogoVentures is managing a new venture fund entitled ‘TANEO FG RES FUND’ (24 Mio Euros) focusing on the field of renewable energy sources and eco-innovation in Greece. Finally, he is a member of the managing board of the non-profit company Greenovate!Europe, based in Brussels and operating in the area of eco-innovation in Europe. He is also a member of the advisory committee of SESMA (Greek Federation of Management Consultant Companies).
