 UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies

Description


The UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies is one of the world's leading specialist institutions, and the largest national centre in the UK, for the study of Central, Eastern and South-East Europe and Russia.

More than 60 academic staff work at UCL SSEES, teaching and conducting research in the history, economics, politics, sociology, anthropology, culture, literature and languages of the countries of the region.

The research of individual scholars at SSEES is complemented by the School's five interdisciplinary research centres; in addition, UCL SSEES leads a collaboration with the Universities of Oxford and Birmingham, and also Bath, Cambridge, Kent, Manchester, Sheffield, SOAS and Warwick, in the Centre for East European Language Based Area Studies (CEELBAS). CEELBAS offers funding for MRes and PhD studentships and Postdoctoral fellowships.

Some 150 graduate students are registered at the School, studying taught Master's degrees or undertaking PhD research. In addition the School has over 500 students registered for BA degrees. SSEES welcomes international students on all of its degree courses.
