Mohammed Kanan is a Jordanian independent expert. He is currently working as a senior researcher in Arab Mining companies his main responsibilities is to evaluate the different business opportunities, build up the database that functions as business support decision tools, and monitor and analysis the market trend that relevant to business opportunities. He worked in the Higher Council for Science & Technology (HCST) in Amman, Jordan from 1997 to 2008.
He was the Director of Industrial Research and Development Fund. His responsibilities included management of the funded projects (follow up, evaluation of progress and reporting), a periodic review of regulations and procedures of Industrial Research Fund (IRF), follow up change and development in the market that affects industrial companies and research centers and reports to the administration committee. He was also responsible of periodic review of overall funded project performance and impact on commercialization of university RTD through industry collaboration.
He evaluates the needs of the private industrial sector companies and beneficiary companies by investigating their problems and fund related activities and monitors the Quality control procedures of the funded projects.
As Reporter of the Arbitrator team on 1997, he assessed El Hassan prize for excellence. On 2002, he worked as Reporter and member of the team that prepared the Jordan 2020 Scenario project / Creative Scenario. From January 2003 until March 2005, he was managing SMITE project at HCST, a project about improving competitiveness of Small Medium enterprises though IT – Based Environment Business Planning, funded by European Union/ EUMEDIS Initiative. Since January 2005 he works as Reporter and member of the team that is preparing HCST strategy for the coming 5 years regarding the following objectives Protection of Intellectual property rights, the development of small and medium enterprises, and Supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, collaborative RTD, and commercialization of RTD output.
Since 2001, he has attended Courses and Conferences in Amman, on Business Management, Innovation and Commercialization of Technology, Business Innovation and Strategic Knowledge Management. On February 2004 he was the Reporter for a one-day workshop about Research & Technology.
