Marco Vivarelli

Description

Marco Vivarelli, Ph.D., is Full Professor of Economic Policy at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy.

He was senior Scientist at the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies – European Commission (JRC-IPTS, Seville) (July 2007 - December 2007 and July 2008 – January 2009). He worked on the European Commission (FP6, second call – Priority 7) project: “Globalisation and regional integration: their impacts on employment and inequality in EU neighbouring countries” (subcontractor, 2005-2008). He was an external-expert in the European Commission (ETEPS network) project: “Driving factors and challenges for the EU industry and the role of R&D and innovation” (2005-2006). Since April 2005 he has been External Associate at the Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation (CSGR), University of Warwick. Since February 2004 he has been external Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Economics - Jena. From June 2002 to May 2005 he has served as Senior Research Economist at the International Labour Office - Geneva. He is Associate Editor of Small Business Economics, Associate Editor of Industrial and Corporate Change, and he serves as referee of many international journals.

In 20-year working experience, he has published several studies in the fields of industrial organization, labour economics and economics of innovation. He is author and editor of various books and his papers have been published in numerous refereed international journals, including the Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, the International Journal of Industrial Organization, Research Policy, Economics Letters, World Development, the Southern Economic Journal, the Cambridge Journal of Economics, Applied Economics, the Journal of Evolutionary Economics, Industrial and Corporate Change, the Journal of Economics, Small Business Economics.

His current research interests include the determinants of R&D activities and cooperative R&D partnerships; the relationship between technological and organisational change, employment and skills; the labour market and income distribution impacts of globalization; and the entry and postentry performance of newborn firms.
