The ERAWATCH Network ASBL (EWN) was created in March 2005 in order to provide services to the European Commission’s Directorate-General Joint Research Centre (Institute for Prospective Technological Studies) and the Directorate-General for Research.
The ERAWATCH Network ASBL is composed of 17 founder member organisations and a large network of associated organisations and individual experts. We encourage new membership. Over time, we hope to bring together all parties with an interest in studying scientific and industrial research policies.
The ERAWATCH Network ASBL has been managing a Framework Service Contract with IPTS since its signature in May 2005. The ASBL management, based in Brussels, ensures the daily operations of the network.
Main activities since 2005
Service provision to IPTS and DG RTD began in September 2005 following a kick-off meeting of the network held in Sevilla. From September 2005 to June 2007, eighteen specific contracts were signed with the IPTS.The main activity of the network has been support to IPTS and DG RTD for the creation of the ERAWATCH research inventory, launched successfully in October 2006.
Other specific contracts undertaken include studies on :
-
Exploratory study to test the feasibility of using patent data for monitoring the globalisation of R&D(led by SPRU)
-

-
Identification and analysis of Policies to promote investment in research in non-EU countries (led by I.P.P. - Newcastle University)
